'Forever Hold Your Piece' lies somewhere in between independent and mainstream. It lies in independent because of the low production costs, and the small cast we had. However, we have used a majority of mainstream thriller conventions which puts our thriller film in the middle.
Subsequently, from our audience research we gathered most of our audience was into mainstream thrillers, whereas independent thrillers were not very popular. Our production is independent but, it touches on mainstream themes of love, fear and death. Summit Entertainment is an independent producer but, it has produced big mainstream films like The Twilight Saga franchise, The Dark Knight and Sorority Row. We as a group were influenced by Summit Entertainment, and the work of an independent production to create such huge mainstream films.
UNCUT PRODUCTIONS is an independent production company, we created as a group, this will produce our thriller film. 'Forever Hold Your Piece' will be the first thriller film UNCUT PRODUCTIONS will produce.
We also created our own distribution company, Ace Pictures. Ace Pictures is an independent distributions company. Ace Picture would be similar to Fox Searchlight Pictures as they are one of the large independent companies who have distributed independent films such as Juno and Never Let Me Go.
Elements
In Forever Hold Your Piece we included mainstream elements of our protagonist, who is an assassin escaping his job. Furthermore, the narrative and theme of our thriller is mainstream because we wanted to create a thriller with a low budget which looks mainstream in order to make a profit.
